Ever Wonder where the time has gone? Have you stopped to smell the roses lately? The ongoing movement that makes our lives does not speed up or slow down on it’s own. We choose! Gardens are created via the choices we make just as our lives take form based on daily decisions.
Will urgency arise first before you realize the precious gifts all around. Family, friends, nature, lightness and darkness, time, a wooden backscratcher. Your life is uniquely your possession to do with as you wish. What is the wish? Have you not earned the right to reach for it? I believe each of us has earned the right yet we are clouded by the multitude of what.? This is where you define things for yourself. Before the next sickness hits you and lays you up in bed for a week take the opportunity now. Time isn’t waiting for you. Take hold of that which you believe will change your life and make yourself more complete.
For me it is all about surrounding myself and my community with a diversity of life through plants and gardens. I can honestly tell you I do take the time to smell the roses, literally. In both my every day life and my business I choose to slow things down, widen my perspective and broaden my base of understanding. This applies to gardens, family relationships and all the other facets of my life. I am far from sainthood. I make my share of mistakes. The great difference is I welcome the stumbles as part of the process and in turn grow smarter and stronger.
Smelling the roses can simply be smiling at yourself in the mirror acknowledging your waking up and fighting to live another day with purpose. Smelling the roses can be hugging your wife or husband, calling your parents or kids, making room for a car trying to get into your lane, offering a hand to someone in need. Every moment has opportunity to enrich the world around. I live it every day hoping that those I impact understand there responsibility to pass that hope, that love, that belief to another. Through my demonstrated love and care for trees and gardens I know I am doing my part to expand understanding and compassion. Just stop right here and know that the next choice you make has the potential to change the world. Your choice.
